Art for art's sake: Auckland to come Alive with Art

Auckland is gearing up for its ten-day festival Artweek Auckland. The eighth edition of the festival will be held from October 6 to October 14, 2018.

The festival offers a platform to experience diverse and extraordinary art and culture of Auckland.

Central City, Parnell, Ponsonby, K'Road, Arch Hill, Newmarket, Devonport, South, West, East will exhibit unique art and events.

The event will include fifty free guided tours, showcasing public and private art along with food, feminist exhibitions, and workshops.

Another attraction of the event includes Late Night Art. The famous art galleries of Auckland will also open till late on Tuesday 9, including the Auckland Art Gallery.

Visitors and viewers will also have Auckland's top food vendors making food inspired by works of artists in StreetArtDego.

On 11 October, Electric Night will return with galleries open for visitors till late.

The festival celebrates the visual arts of Auckland during a week's period.

Papakura Art Gallery, The Pah Homestead, Dornwell Studios, Franklin Arts Centre, Nathan Homestead, Franklin Arts Centre, and Fresh Gallery Otara will be flaunting their works. Photography, sculpture, and performance will be depicting Aotearoa's suffrage movement and feminist history.

The festival offers the opportunity to budding artists to test their skills in form of drawing.
