The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) will conduct a feasibility study for the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor (EORC) project.
According to an official statement released on Thursday, the proposed 135-km EORC will run parallel to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, linking Palwal in Haryana with Sonipat through Ghaziabad, Noida, and Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.
Approximately 90 km of the corridor will be in Uttar Pradesh, with the remaining 45 km in Haryana. The Uttar Pradesh government has tasked HRIDC to conduct this feasibility study.
During a HRIDC Board of Directors meeting chaired by Chief Secretary T V S N Prasad on Thursday, Managing Director Rajesh Agarwal discussed ongoing feasibility studies for several new rail lines, including a 27-km line between Narwana and Uklana, and a 10-km chord line at Kurukshetra.
Agarwal also mentioned that the Railway Board has sanctioned a final location survey for a new rail line between Karnal and Yamunanagar. Additionally, the HRIDC is awaiting approval from the Ministry of Railways for various other projects, including a new line between Farukhnagar and Jhajjar and elevation of the Kaithal railway track to eliminate level crossings.
