Minister Assures Smooth Flights Amid Global Microsoft Outage

Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu on Friday assured that measures are being taken to ensure smooth flight movements in India following a global Microsoft software outage that disrupted airline services.

Naidu affirmed that as of now, there are no issues in India. The ministry is implementing strategies to avoid any potential inconvenience for passengers, including shifting from software-based to manual systems.

'I just spoke to our secretary (Civil Aviation). Steps are being taken to avoid troubles and ensure smooth flight movements in India. Shifting from software to manual system has been undertaken. As of now, there is no problem in India with regard to that. Even if there is a problem, immediate reaction will be there and steps will be taken to avoid inconvenience to passengers,' Naidu told reporters.

The minister also noted the severe impact of the software outage on flights in the USA.

The global Microsoft outage on Friday caused significant disruptions in airline operations, resulting in flight cancellations and long queues at check-in counters. Manual handling of services like booking, check-in, and boarding is currently underway, leading to longer wait times at airports.
