The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has entered into a significant agreement with the Union Territory Administration of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, aimed at managing and operating Car Nicobar and Campbell Bay airports.
The pact was formalized by Vishwendra, Secretary of Civil Aviation for ANI, and N V Subbarayudu, Executive Director-II at AAI. This agreement facilitates the operation of a 19-seater fixed-wing aircraft managed by Flybig, a private company under Big Charter Private Limited, serving routes between Port Blair, Car Nicobar, and Campbell Bay. Vishwendra noted that the initiative would initially last for five years, with a possible extension.
Further emphasizing the agreement's impact, Airport Director Devender Yadav described it as a transformative step for civil aviation, destined to boost regional air connectivity and development. The move aligns with the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, which aims to enhance air connectivity and foster tourism in the area.
