Assam's Drive Towards 'Viksit Bharat': Key Initiatives and Progress

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the state's strategic initiatives to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' at the NITI Aayog's Governing Council meeting. Highlighting infrastructure investments and social initiatives, Sarma asserted Assam's growing status among the nation's fastest-developing states.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the state's strategic efforts to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharat' vision during the NITI Aayog's Governing Council meeting. Sarma noted that Assam is among the country's fastest-growing states, investing in roads, health, and education infrastructure at an unprecedented pace.

Sarma highlighted major projects including the construction of Rs 35,000 crore in water supply assets and 13,000 new SSA classrooms. Efforts are also in progress to reintegrate 81,000 out-of-school students and establish 3,000 MW of renewable energy capacity.

With Assam's GSDP growth at 13% and a 59% increase in capex since 2020, Sarma emphasized the state's efforts to exceed national power supply averages and the commitment to 'Jan Bhagidari' for an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Guided by Prime Minister Modi, Sarma aims to enhance workforce skills, build a robust industrial base, and maintain law and order.
