Italy and China have signed a three-year action plan to implement existing agreements and explore new forms of cooperation, according to Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The announcement came during her official visit to Beijing.
Prime Minister Meloni is seeking to reshape Italy's relationship with China amid concerns about a potential trade war with the European Union, while still aiming to attract Chinese investment in sectors such as auto manufacturing.
This visit follows Italy's withdrawal from China's Belt and Road Initiative, signaling a shift in its foreign policy. Despite this, Italy remains keen on sustaining a strong economic relationship with China, highlighted by recent collaborations like the Stellantis joint venture with Chinese electric car startup Leapmotor.
