Debate Roars Over Modi 3.0 Union Budget

Opposition parties criticized the Union Budget, alleging it neglected most states. Treasury benches supported the budget, highlighting economic achievements. Congress called the budget unfair, raising concerns over states and sectors ignored.

On Monday, opposition parties vociferously attacked the Union Budget, accusing it of overlooking the needs of most states in the first major economic document released by the Modi 3.0 government.

Conversely, members of the treasury benches hailed the Rs 48.2 lakh crore Union Budget presented in Parliament on July 23, citing the nation's comprehensive development. Senior BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi, during the general discussion, presented data on GDP growth, rising foreign exchange reserves, a declining fiscal deficit, and heightened foreign remittances to underscore the government's economic accomplishments.

Trivedi contested the opposition's accusation of favouring corporates, noting that reduced corporate taxes aim to enhance industry competitiveness. He pointed out that several global MNCs are relocating their bases from China, where the corporate tax rate stands at 25%. Additionally, Trivedi commended the government's efforts to control inflation.
