Goyal Sets $50 Billion Export Target for Leather Industry by 2030

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday urged the leather and footwear industry to set a target of $50 billion in exports by 2030. Currently, India's leather exports are around $5 billion.

Goyal emphasized the need to utilize various free trade agreements (FTAs) that India has signed, including those with Australia and the UAE. He stressed the importance of manufacturing world-class products to access global markets.

The minister also called for strict adherence to quality control norms to minimize imports of sub-standard goods and enhance India's position as a top global exporter, while highlighting the potential for job creation in the sector.
