Competition Commission Recollects Probe Report on Apple's Market Dominance
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has recalled its investigation report on Apple's alleged anti-competitive practices, aiming to protect the legal rights of all involved parties. The move comes after Apple raised concerns about confidential business information being included in the report. The CCI insists that this is a procedural step, not a fresh investigation.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has taken an unusual step by recalling its investigation report on allegations of anti-competitive practices by tech giant Apple. This decision aims to protect the legal rights of all parties involved, according to CCI Secretary Inder Pal Singh Bindra.
Sources reveal that Apple had voiced concerns about confidential business information being shared in the report. The CCI has since instructed its Director General to remove any sensitive data from the non-confidential version of the probe report.
The investigation, which began in December 2021, focused on whether Apple's app store practices violate competition norms. The final hearing and subsequent order are pending responses from involved parties.
