This move comes in the wake of the EU's earlier decision to set tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, which has instigated this trade tit-for-tat.

Gentiloni underscored that the EU's actions were proportionate and expressed optimism over minimizing adverse effects on European exports. Meanwhile, concerns over further escalation between the trading giants loom amidst ongoing economic tensions.
