India's Employment Drive: Rozgar Melas Boost Job Opportunities
Since 2019-20, over 42,000 job fairs called Rozgar Melas have helped shortlist more than 18.4 lakh job seekers in India. These fairs, aimed at boosting employment, are part of a broader government initiative, including infrastructure development, to generate opportunities for India's youth.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced on Thursday that over 42,000 job fairs have been organized since 2019-20, resulting in more than 18.4 lakh job seekers being shortlisted. The fairs are part of the Rozgar Melas initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 22, 2022.
These job fairs have been held centrally in 45-50 cities across various states and Union Territories. Several ministries and departments have issued numerous appointment letters during these events, Singh said in a response to the Rajya Sabha.
The government is prioritizing employment generation and improving employability. Infrastructure development, such as roads and airports, is also boosting job opportunities. The Union Budget 2024-2025 outlines a package of initiatives to provide opportunities for 4.1 crore youth with a Rs 2 lakh crore outlay.
