In a significant move towards renewable energy development, EDF India and NTPC Limited, a prominent Indian energy company, have entered into an agreement to explore pumped storage projects in conjunction with renewable energy sources.
The collaboration, formalized with a term sheet signed on February 23, 2025, during Elecrama 2025, outlines plans to establish a joint venture company with equal partnership, pending approval from the Indian government. This venture aims to support India’s renewable energy goals, positioning both companies as key contributors to the nation’s decarbonization efforts.
NTPC, India's foremost integrated power entity, is committed to sustainable power solutions, aspiring to reach a generation capacity of 130 GW by 2032, through diverse energy sources, including renewables.
