In a significant development, housing sales in nine major Indian cities soared by 12% last year, amounting to Rs 6.73 lakh crore, primarily driven by a surge in demand for luxury homes, according to PropEquity. The real estate data analytics firm released these findings on Monday, emphasizing the market's strength.
Gurugram emerged as a notable contributor, with housing sales skyrocketing to Rs 1,06,739 crore in 2024, a substantial increase from the previous year. Property brokers identified top-selling developers including DLF, Signature Global, and others as key players in this boom. The Delhi-NCR region also experienced a substantial upswing, with sales climbing 63% to Rs 1,53,000 crore.
PropEquity Founder & CEO Samir Jasuja attributed the growth to robust infrastructure development and a growing corporate presence, which is enhancing the region's appeal. The arrival of a new government and the anticipated MPD 2041 are expected to further stimulate the market, bringing in new supply and boosting investor interest.
