El Al Leads Massive Airlift Effort Amid Ceasefire

Following a ceasefire in the Israel-Iran war, El Al is coordinating a large-scale airlift to bring back stranded travelers. The airline plans to increase flights from major global cities as it resumes operations, while Israel works to restore normal airport functions and assist stranded tourists.

El Al Israel Airlines has announced a major airlift operation to repatriate tens of thousands of travelers affected by extensive flight cancellations amid the recent Israel-Iran conflict. The airline, Israel's national carrier, is acting swiftly after a ceasefire was brokered, allowing for a phased reopening of Ben Gurion Airport.

Regular flights have been halted until late June, but special one-way operations are being initiated from cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Bangkok, among others. In collaboration with smaller Israeli airlines, rescue flights have started to facilitate the return of travelers who have been unable to leave due to the airspace restrictions caused by 12 days of military tensions.

The increased flight operations commenced after an announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump about the ceasefire. With a focus on safety, Israel's Airports Authority is working to resume regular activities at its airports, while Israel aids tourists leaving by land and sea routes.
