Aeroflot Faces Chaos After Cyberattack: National Flight Disruptions and Data Breach

The Russian airline giant Aeroflot faced severe disruptions on Monday after a significant IT outage attributed to a cyberattack. The incident forced the cancellation of more than 100 flights, leaving passengers stranded and prompting a criminal investigation by Russia's prosecutor's office.

Footage emerged showing distressed passengers at Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow, as flight schedules were thrown into disarray. The cyberattack affected not just Aeroflot flights but also those of its subsidiaries, Rossiya and Pobeda, impacting both domestic and international services.

The hacker groups Silent Crow and Belarus Cyber-Partisans claimed responsibility for the breach, alleging long-term access to Aeroflot's corporate network. Information purportedly includes sensitive customer data and internal communications, raising concerns about the security of personal information of Aeroflot's clientele.
