Employees of Karnataka's state-owned transport corporations launched an indefinite strike on Tuesday, disrupting public bus services across the state. The strike defied a court's stay order, with union demands for wage revision and settlement of salary arrears remaining unmet.

Bus services were crippled as many employees participated in the strike, though some buses, particularly in rural areas, continued to operate for student convenience. Trainee drivers were brought in to help manage the situation, but major cities like Bengaluru, Hubballi, and Mysuru witnessed packed bus stands with stranded commuters.

With limited bus services, passengers faced difficulties, turning to private operators who charged inflated fares. Despite Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's appeal to cancel the strike, unions pressed on, dissatisfied with the government's offer to settle only two years of arrears.
