Bengaluru Commuters Navigate Disruption Amid KSRTC Strike

The KSRTC strike disrupted intercity travel in Karnataka, with Bengaluru's city transport largely unaffected. Commuters faced confusion, opting for Metro and individual vehicles. The strike organized by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) workers affected intercity travel on Tuesday but left Bengaluru's city transport largely intact.

Morning confusion over Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus availability led commuters to flock to Metro services, causing crowding. Increased individual vehicle use also resulted in traffic congestion at bottlenecks. By 9 a.m., people discovered BMTC buses were operating normally.

BMTC officials confirmed operations were nearly at full capacity. 'As of 10 a.m., 3,283 of our usual 3,303 buses were in service,' Abdul Ahad, Director of Security and Vigilance, stated. KSRTC, however, ran limited services, leaving travelers waiting hours. With high private bus fares, many preferred to wait for KSRTC buses.
