Motorists and local leaders are enraged over the hazardous state of Kalyan-Shilphata Road in Thane District following the death of 28-year-old Rohan Shingare. Shingare, who sustained critical injuries after his vehicle hit a pothole last month, succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
Rohan Shingare, hailing from Rambagh in Kalyan West, met with tragedy on July 23 while commuting to work in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Officials reported that the incident occurred when his two-wheeler hit a waterlogged pothole near Pimpleshwar hotel, leading to a fall and a speeding truck subsequently crushing his hand. Despite receiving emergency medical attention and undergoing amputation, Shingare's condition worsened, ultimately resulting in his death.
The deplorable condition of Kalyan-Shil Road, with its potholes and uneven stretches like Nilje Katai Bridge at Palava Chowk, has made it dangerously difficult for daily commuters. Former MNS MLA Raju Patil criticized agencies such as MMRDA and MSRDC for ignoring continuous warnings, while former KDMC Mayor Vaijayanti Gujar-Gholap emphasized the road's importance to thousands daily, urging for Shingare's death to become a catalyst for change. Rohan was the only son of Shiv Sena leader Rajendra Shingare.
