S&P Global Ratings has determined that high US tariffs are unlikely to impede India's long-term economic growth. The Indian government's focus on economic reforms and improving living standards plays a significant role in this outlook.
India's sovereign credit rating has been upgraded to 'BBB' with a stable outlook by S&P, marking the first upgrade in 18 years. Factors such as economic growth, fiscal consolidation, and monetary policy have contributed to this positive rating.
Although the US has imposed significant tariffs on Indian goods, the impact is expected to be limited due to India's domestic-oriented economy. Nevertheless, tariff-related complexities persist, but India's growth trajectory remains promising due to infrastructure improvements and continued economic reforms.
