At the 22nd Annual Capital Markets Conference (CAPAM2025) hosted by FICCI, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey urged for innovative reforms that would not only broaden market opportunities but also cut compliance costs. He stressed the importance of a more secure and accessible system for issuers and investors.

Highlighting SEBI's recent regulatory advances, Pandey mentioned the accelerated IPO timelines and the embrace of digital procedures. He cited initiatives like fund blocking and direct payouts that have enhanced efficiency and slashed costs, along with a new UPI payment channel for intermediaries launching on October 1, 2025, to shield investors from cyber threats.

Pandey emphasized technology as a crucial trust amplifier in the digital finance age, amid rising fake apps and unregistered intermediaries. He noted SEBI's collaboration with social media platforms to tackle fraud, while advocating for regulatory innovation to foster new asset classes, thereby fortifying India's growing securities market and its 13 crore investors.

Pandey also spotlighted the importance of artificial intelligence, urging its adoption with caution and underscoring the necessity to streamline processes. He called for developing new financial products and enhancing sustainable domestic capital formation to navigate global uncertainties.
