Indian-Origin Trucker Faces Charges in Fatal California Crash

A 21-year-old Indian-origin truck driver, Jashanpreet Singh, faces serious charges after allegedly causing a fatal accident in California while driving under the influence, killing three individuals. According to reports, Singh, who did not brake before the collision, was confirmed to be impaired by toxicology tests.

Singh, who entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 and was awaiting an immigration hearing, has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and ICE have lodged an immigration detainer following his arrest, highlighting concerns over immigration policies.

This incident follows a similar case where another Indian-origin trucker caused a deadly crash, prompting U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to call for a halt on commercial truck driver work visas, citing increased risks and impacts on American drivers.
