IndiGo, facing scrutiny from aviation authorities, has revised its winter schedule after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) enforced a 10% cut. India's largest domestic carrier, IndiGo, is maneuvering through a period of turbulence as it submits a revised winter flight schedule to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This follows an enforced 10% schedule reduction by the aviation regulator due to multiple flight cancellations and crew shortages.
Intense scrutiny by the DGCA compelled IndiGo to align its operations more closely with its available pilots, leading Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu to announce measures ensuring fewer disruptions. The airline was directed to present its updated plans by 5 PM Wednesday, signaling a significant adjustment in its operational strategies.
While details on specific routes affected by the schedule revision remain undisclosed, the impact is substantial. The reduction translates to approximately 220 fewer flights per day from the airline's original allowance of around 2,200 flights under the winter schedule, which spans from late October to March.
