J&K RTC Renews Fleets, Bridges Communities Through Interfaith Transport

The Jammu and Kashmir government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is expanding the fleet of the J&K Road Transport Corporation (RTC), emphasizing cargo trucks and interfaith bus services. This initiative aims to boost inter-state connectivity, tourism, and strengthen the region's cultural heritage.

In a strategic move to bolster transport infrastructure, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced plans to expand the J&K Road Transport Corporation (RTC) fleet, paying special attention to cargo trucks. This comes after he flagged off RTC buses to major religious sites, emphasizing the region's legacy of pluralism.

Abdullah highlighted that these special bus services to destinations like Shahdara Sharief and Ajmer Sharief are designed to enhance spiritual journeys and facilitate affordable pilgrimages. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to fostering mutual respect among diverse communities and strengthening cultural coalescence.

The Chief Minister also pointed out the imperative role of the RTC in transporting essential supplies within J&K. By adding e-buses and new conventional buses, the RTC anticipates generating substantial revenue which, if managed prudently, could independently finance further fleet enhancements, ensuring stable operations and employee satisfaction.
