Statewide Shutdown: Kerala's Culinary Sector Protests LPG Price Surge

On May 6, establishments like hotels and restaurants in Kerala will close to protest against increased cooking gas prices. The Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association is leading this statewide agitation, involving protest marches and halts in online food services, demanding a rollback of the LPG price hike.

Hotels, restaurants, bakeries, and canteens across the state will remain closed for 24 hours on May 6 in protest against the steep hike in cooking gas prices, according to the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA).

As part of the statewide agitation, online food delivery services will also be suspended for the day. The protest has been organized to demand a rollback of the recent LPG price hike.

In addition to the closures, KHRA announced that protest marches and dharnas will be conducted in front of the offices of petroleum companies and central government establishments throughout the state, with a notable gathering planned at the Indian Oil Corporation office in Panampilly Nagar, Ernakulam.
