India is ushering in a 'coal gasification decade,' presenting significant opportunities for its fertiliser, chemical, steel, and energy sectors, said Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. The initiative promises reduced import dependency and a boost to domestic industrial capabilities, particularly centered around Hyderabad's industrial ecosystem.

India is primed to launch into what Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy terms the 'coal gasification decade,' a strategic move aimed at bolstering the nation's fertiliser, chemical, steel, and energy industries while reducing reliance on imports.

Addressing industry stakeholders at the Coal Gasification Roadshow in Hyderabad, Reddy underlined coal gasification not merely as government policy but a lucrative business frontier. He called for increased business participation, emphasizing Hyderabad’s pivotal role due to its robust industrial base.

Reddy further detailed the government's speedy execution of the coal gasification scheme, marking a swift initiation of a Request for Proposal post-Cabinet approval. He hailed the process as transparent and conducive for industry collaboration. The minister highlighted coal gasification's adaptability across industries, asserting it as an integral component of India's broader economic transformation and self-reliance vision.
