Retail inflation in India increases in April as country goes to Lok Sabha polls

Retail inflation in India has increased to 2.92 per cent in April from 2.86 per cent in March. Retail inflation remains well within the RBI's comfort level of 4 per cent for about nine months now, coming down from 4.17 per cent in July 2018.
India is also undergoing Lok Sabha elections, which is being held in 7 phases keeping in mind the massive population of the world's biggest democracy.

India's retail inflation ticked up to 2.86 per cent in March. Inflation had jumped in March as well as consumers spent more to buy food items and fuel.
