HP eyes Rs 85,000 cr investment from investors' summit

Himachal Pradesh government is looking to attract around Rs 85,000 crore of investments in its maiden global investors' summit to be organised on November 7 and 8 at Dharamshala. The state government has been doing road shows across the country and internationally to meet potential investors.

"Himachal is a vibrant state that has the highest forest cover of 70 per cent in the country and also has a great potential to draw investment. We want to attract investment in all the sectors including tourism, adventure tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, logistics horticulture and cement, among others," the state's Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur told reporters at the CII organised roadshow here. He said of the total investment target of Rs 85,000 crore, Rs 21,000 crore of MoUs has been signed so far.

The state also signed an MoU with Mahindra Holidays and Resorts worth Rs 300 crore in tourism and another MoU in Wellness Resort by Himalayan Bliss. A delegation from the state also met industrialists including Tata Trusts chairman Ratan Tata; Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra; Godrej Group chairman Adi Godrej and RPG group chairman Harsh Goenka, among others.
