The Maharashtra government announced a new skill training scheme aimed at youth employment on Thursday. The Mukhyamantri Yuva Karyaprashikshan Yojana will require job-seekers to upload their details on a dedicated portal, where they can connect to employment-generating businesses.

According to the government order issued Thursday, the scheme will offer work training to aspirants, enhancing their skills while businesses gain human resources for expansion. Both job seekers and businesses will use the portal for training and employment purposes.

Aspirants, aged 18 to 35, must be residents of Maharashtra and hold an Aadhar card linked to a bank account. They will undergo six months of training, during which they will receive a stipend. Class 12 pass candidates will receive Rs 6,000, ITI or diploma holders Rs 8,000, and graduates and post-graduates Rs 10,000. The scheme will be monitored by a committee headed by the state chief secretary, with reviews every four months. In alignment with the National Education Policy, on-job training and apprenticeship have also been incorporated.
