Delhi Education Minister Atishi on Wednesday met with protesting students at old Rajinder Nagar to discuss the formation of a panel that will draft regulations for coaching institutes in the city. She urged the students to select 10 representatives to be part of this process.
Although Atishi was greeted with slogans of 'Go back' and 'we want justice,' she sat with the protesters, ensuring them of the government's support in addressing their issues. She was accompanied by Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi and MLA Durgesh Pathak during the meeting.
Atishi's engagement with the students comes in the wake of the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants who were trapped in a flooded basement of a coaching centre. The Minister emphasized that safety measures and other concerns like brokerage, rent, and electricity will be taken into account when drafting the new laws.
