Congress Claims NTA Profiteering in NEET Exams

The Congress party accused the National Testing Agency (NTA) of earning a net profit of Rs 448 crore over six years by reducing the future of millions of youths to a revenue-raising exercise. The agency, operating under the Education Ministry, outsources to private vendors often of dubious credentials.

The Congress has accused the National Testing Agency (NTA) of profiting at the expense of students, claiming the agency netted Rs 448 crore in six years. The NTA, under the Education Ministry, allegedly prioritizes profit over educational standards by outsourcing to questionable private vendors.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary in-charge of communications, shared on X the response from Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar, detailing the NTA’s financial activities. According to the government's data, the NTA collected Rs 3,512.98 crore and spent Rs 3,064.77 crore on examination conduct.

Ramesh criticized the agency's leadership and questioned its credentials, labeling the operation as a revenue-raising scheme that fails to improve its testing capabilities or monitor its vendors effectively. He warned that millions of youths’ futures are being compromised for profit under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration.
