Prime Minister Narendra Modi has revealed a significant boost in the nation's medical education capacity, pledging the creation of 75,000 new medical seats over the next five years.
During his address from the Red Fort on the 78th Independence Day, Modi emphasized the current trend of children, primarily from middle-class families, seeking medical education abroad.
He noted that despite the considerable expense involved, with many spending 'lakhs and crores,' the problem persists. Modi stated that approximately 25,000 students leave the country annually for medical education, urging the need for increasing seats domestically to nearly 1 lakh in the past decade.
