Union Health Ministry Expands MBBS Seats in Uttar Pradesh: 600 More Opportunities
The Union health ministry has approved new MBBS programmes at five medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh and increased the number of seats in Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur. This brings 600 new seats, making a total of 1,200 new seats for the 2024-25 academic session. The initiatives follow appeals to the National Medical Commission.

The Union health ministry has officially sanctioned the start of MBBS programmes at five new medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh, according to reliable sources.
Furthermore, the seat capacity at medical colleges in Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur has doubled from 50 to 100, increasing the total number of new MBBS seats to 1,200 for the 2024-25 academic year, as stated in an official release.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's engagement with Union Health Minister JP Nadda led to the principals of the medical colleges appealing to the National Medical Commission (NMC). Subsequently, the commission recognized all seven medical colleges on the first appeal, bringing the total number of MBBS seats to 11,200, divided between government and private institutions.
