Satish Chavan, a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council representing the NCP, has urged the state government to permit Class XI-XII students living in social justice department hostels to continue their stay until May. This request aims to support students needing extended accommodation to prepare effectively for major competitive exams.

In a letter directed to Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat, dated March 8, Chavan stressed that students face challenges when asked to vacate in February, with standard classes extending into March and exams scheduled in April. The extension is crucial for students gearing up for exams like NEET, JEE, and CET, he argued.

Highlighting the financial constraints of these students, particularly from rural backgrounds, Chavan advocated for their ability to remain in the hostel environment, which is vital for their academic success. The government has been called upon to make a decision in favor of this proposal.
