The Gujarat government has intervened in the management of a private school in Ahmedabad due to alleged legal violations and a concerning incident involving student safety. Nearly four months ago, a class 10 student was fatally stabbed by a fellow student, igniting protests from parents.
The Education Department's decision to take over the management of the Seventh Day Adventist School followed a detailed inquiry that uncovered multiple breaches of education laws. Violations included mismanagement, non-compliance with affiliation rules, and unauthorized commercial activities, according to a notification issued on Monday.
The investigation revealed that the school had operated additional classes without permissions, engaged in profit-making activities, and was not adhering to lease and board conditions. In light of these findings, the state government opted to take control to ensure compliance and safeguard the interests of over 10,000 students enrolled at the institution.
