Assam's Transformation: Modernization of Educational Infrastructure Unveiled

Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated 67 new school buildings and laid foundations for 61 more, investing Rs 760 crore to modernize the state's education sector. This initiative marks a shift towards well-planned educational infrastructure in Assam, enhancing aesthetics and comprehensive facilities across 1,318 schools.

On Monday, Assam made strides in educational development as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated 67 new school buildings and laid foundations for 61 others, marking a significant investment of Rs 760 crore. This move aims to establish world-class learning environments throughout the state.

At the central event held in Sonapur, Sarma highlighted the initiative as a 'historic and transformative' day for Assam's education sector. He emphasized the need for planned constructions, contrasting this overhaul with previous uncoordinated building efforts funded by local donations or development schemes.

Under the current government, which began in 2021, Assam has committed to reconstructing and aesthetically upgrading 1,318 school buildings. The investment also includes modern facilities such as laboratories and smart classrooms. Additionally, the government has filled a substantial number of teaching positions, with 70% of current educators under 45 years old. Sarma announced upcoming inaugurations of schools in tea garden areas, further underscoring the state's educational ambitions.
