Inclusive Education: Sindh's Initiative for Hindu Students
In Sindh, Pakistan, Hindu students will receive religious textbooks to promote inclusivity and tolerance. The Sindh Education and Literacy Department, aligned with Prem Sagar Sanstha Karachi, aims to provide these books free of cost. The effort seeks to counter rising social intolerance by integrating minority narratives into education.
In a significant move to promote social tolerance and inclusivity, the Sindh province of Pakistan will provide Hindu religious books to Hindu students. The initiative, set to begin in the upcoming academic session, aims to accommodate cultural diversity in the education system.
Zahid Abbasi, the Sindh Education Secretary, announced that three religious textbooks will be made available to students from classes three to five. This step, backed by the Sindh Education and Literacy Department, has received financial support from the social welfare organization, Prem Sagar Sanstha Karachi.
The decision aligns with the findings of the Centre for Social Justice, linking exclusionary narratives in schools to rising intolerance. The National Curriculum Council has also issued certificates for publishing religious texts across various minority religions, though implementation remains pending.
