The popular Avatar franchise is getting ready for the third film. The second Avatar film, "Avatar: The Way of Water" is presently the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time with $2.13 billion. As it continues to rule the global box office, fans are already clamoring for Avatar 3.

It was earlier revealed that James Cameron had already filmed Avatar 3 and some parts of Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 is in his plan. In a new interview with Empire magazine, Avatar producer Jon Landau dropped some details about what viewers can expect in Avatar 3.

Cameron had teased that Avatar 3 would introduce a new race of Na’vi who are more likely to be more antagonists. Charlie Chaplin’s granddaughter, Oona Chaplin will play the leader of the race.

Jon Landau said in his statement: “There are good humans and there are bad humans. It’s the same thing on the Na’vi side. Oftentimes, people don’t see themselves as bad. What is the root cause of how they evolve into what we perceive as bad? Maybe there are other factors there that we aren’t aware of.”

While Chaplin’s casting has been known for quite some time, this is the first confirmation fans have gotten that she’s playing the leader of the Ash People. Chaplin praised the “Avatar” franchise back in 2018 and described it as “Trojan horse cinema” due to how Cameron uses big budget filmmaking “to explore things that he finds important…like our relationship with nature, our relationship with people, our relationship with ourselves and the spirit.”

In the interview, the producer also disclosed that Avatar 4 will feature a significant time leap, which will subsequently lead into Avatar 5 and its partial Earth setting.

In an interview with Gizmodo, Londau previously indicated that "Avatar 5" would travel to Earth, saying, "We go there to open people's eyes, open Neytiri's eyes, to what exists on Earth."

What would Earth actually look like in the "Avatar" universe? Because the Resources Development Administration (RDA) has come to Pandora to establish a new, sustainable world for humans, fans are aware that Earth is perishing. In the Earth shown in "Avatar," according to Landau, "there's overpopulation and a depletion of our natural resources that make life harder."

“But we don’t want to paint a bleak picture for where our world is going. “The films are also about the idea that we can change course,” the producer added.

Avatar: The Way of Water is now playing in theaters.
