Arunachal and ESG to organize international tribal film Festival

The Arunachal Pradesh government has signed a pact with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) to organize an international tribal film Festival here. The three-day fest, scheduled for January 2019, will showcase films on tribal communities from around the world, Siddesh Sane, an administrative officer of the ESG, said.

"The festival is still at a planning stage. We haven't decided on the modalities yet, but we wish to showcase tribal people, their way of life and culture from different corners of the globe," Sane said.

ESG was set up by the Goa government in 2004 to frame an entertainment policy for the coastal state. It organizes the annual International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who was present at the MoU signing ceremony on Monday, said visits of international artists and media personalities to the state will open up avenues for film-shooting and tourism. It would also foster economic activities and create employment opportunities for the people here, he stated.

"We are wary of the fillip the IFFI has given to Goa to emerge as an international tourist destination as well as the entertainment nerve-centre of the country. We expect the same from the scheduled film festival in Itanagar," Khandu added.
