After making its mark as one of Netflix's most successful shows, fans of "Wednesday" can't wait for the second season to drop. With returning characters and the promise of a darker and more thrilling storyline, this series is set to take viewers on another eerie adventure. Here's what you need to know about "Wednesday" Season 2.

A Recap of Wednesday Season 1

In Season 1, we followed Wednesday Addams, portrayed by the talented Jenna Ortega, as she navigated the strange and supernatural world of Nevermore Academy. In the season finale, we saw a dramatic turn of events as Wednesday and her friends delved into uncovering a monster. This led to her expulsion from the academy and set the stage for a plot to resurrect the sinister Joseph Crackstone.

What to expect from Wednesday Season 2

One significant change viewers can expect in Season 2 is the absence of any romantic love interest for Wednesday. According to Jenna Ortega, they're planning to dive deeper into the horror elements of the show, making it even darker and more thrilling. This decision to focus on horror and suspense over romance is sure to provide a fresh and captivating experience for fans.

In a June 2023 interview with Variety, Jenna Ortega shared, "It's still coming together, but we've decided we want to lean into the horror more. We're ditching any romantic love interest, which is really great. We're going to get bolder, more dark. I've never had to do a serious period piece before. Was there anything you have to do to make sure things are accurate?"

Returning and New Faces

Jenna Ortega, known for her incredible performance as Wednesday, will continue to lead the cast. In addition to her role in "Wednesday," she is set to star in "Beetlejuice 2" as Lydia Deetz's daughter and even take on a producer's role in the second season of "Wednesday."

Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia Addams, Wednesday's mother, who wields psychic abilities. In Season 2, we can look forward to Morticia exploring a variety of new looks.

Luis Guzmán plays Gomez Addams, Wednesday's father, who becomes a person of interest in a murder case during Season 1. Guzmán hinted at exciting developments in Season 2, including sword fights and dancing.

While some characters like Lurch, portrayed by George Burcea, had a seemingly small role in Season 1, their significance might grow in the upcoming season. Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen, brings his unique talent for generating static electricity to the show.

Gwendoline Christie plays Larissa Weems, the principal of Nevermore Academy with shapeshifting abilities. Her fate was left uncertain at the end of Season 1, leaving room for intrigue in Season 2.

Sheriff Galpin, portrayed by Jamie McShane, remains a mysterious character with an unclear role in Season 2. His character development and motivations will likely be explored further in the new season.

Cast Changes

Percy Hynes White, who portrayed Xavier Thorpe, has been removed from the cast of "Wednesday" Season 2 due to allegations of sexual assault.

Moosa Mostafa, who plays Eugene Ottinger, a student with the power to manipulate bees, will likely return after being injured in Season 1. He played a crucial role in the finale.

Christina Ricci, known for her role as Wednesday Addams in "The Addams Family" film, is set to return as Marilyn Thornhill/Laurel Gates, the botany teacher at Nevermore Academy. Her character, with a connection to the evil Joseph Crackstone, promises to bring more twists to the plot.

The show's creators are keeping the details about new cast members under wraps. Jenna Ortega hopes for Cousin Itt's arrival, while other cast members expressed a desire to meet Wednesday's grandmother. These mysterious additions are sure to add more intrigue to the storyline.

Wednesday Season 2 Release Date

Production preparations for "Wednesday" Season 2 began early in 2023, with filming initially planned for fall 2023. However, strikes within the entertainment industry, including the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike and the SAG-AFTRA strike, have caused delays. As a result, predicting a release date is challenging, and it may not be until 2024 that we finally get to see Wednesday Season 2.

Fans of the dark and quirky world of the Addams family will have to wait a little longer, but the promise of a darker and more thrilling storyline in "Wednesday" Season 2 makes it all worth it.
