First Chief Election Commissioner Sukumar Sen's Biopic Announced

Roy Kapur Films and Trickitainment Media have acquired rights to produce a biopic on Sukumar Sen, India's first Chief Election Commissioner. Sen, a mathematician-turned-civil servant, supervised India's first general election in 1952. The biopic aims to celebrate his innovations that laid the foundation for India's democratic process.

In a significant announcement on Monday, Roy Kapur Films and Trickitainment Media revealed they have secured the rights to produce a biopic on Sukumar Sen, India's pioneering Chief Election Commissioner.

This revelation comes just ahead of the vote counting for India's 18th general election, slated for Tuesday. Sen, a mathematician turned civil servant, played a crucial role in overseeing the 1952 general election, marking a historic milestone as the first election in independent India.

Siddharth Roy Kapur, the producer at Roy Kapur Films, expressed immense pride in portraying Sen's remarkable legacy. He highlighted Sen's innovative approaches, like using symbols and colors to identify political parties and the introduction of indelible ink to combat voter fraud, which remain integral to the electoral process even today. Roy Kapur emphasized the importance of celebrating Sen's substantial contributions to India's democracy, noting the global appeal of this fascinating story.

Romanchak Arora of Trickitainment Media stated that Sen's journey, filled with significant and dramatic moments, would resonate with every Indian who values their right to vote. He stressed that the story, told after 73 years, is essential viewing for all generations.

Sen's grandsons, Sanjiv Sen and Debdatta Sen, lauded the project, recognizing their grandfather's critical role in establishing a robust electoral framework. They commended the producers and wished them success in bringing to light the untold story of an unsung hero.
