The Indian Army's Regiment of Artillery has undertaken a significant series of white water rafting expeditions in collaboration with the Army Adventure Wing. An official release highlighted that this adventurous endeavor serves as a prelude to their bicentenary celebrations scheduled for September.
The inaugural expedition, spanning the rough waters of the Mandakini, Alaknanda, Bhagirathi, and Ganges rivers, concluded in Rishikesh on June 5. This is the first in a sequence of expeditions planned to cover all raftable rivers across India, according to the release.
Unfolding in six phases along the Rishikesh-Devprayag-Srinagar-Rudraprayag axis, the expedition covered an impressive 300 kilometers. Led by Lieutenant Colonel B N Jha, the team comprised two officers, one junior commissioned officer, and 21 personnel of other ranks. The journey commenced from Rudraprayag on May 25 and concluded at the Veer Bhadra Barrage in Rishikesh on June 5. The primary objective was to instill motivation, pushing personnel to embrace adventure and build camaraderie, the release stated.
