Alipore Zoo Introduces Braille Boards for Visually Impaired Visitors
The Alipore Zoological Garden in Kolkata introduced braille boards to assist visually challenged visitors. Twenty boards are installed near key enclosures. The initiative, unveiled on 'Chimpanzee Day,' included interactive gaming sessions and presentations. Minister Birbaha Hansda and senior officials attended, and saplings were presented to participants.

The Alipore Zoological Garden in Kolkata unveiled braille boards on Sunday to assist visually impaired visitors. According to Zoo Director Subhankar Sengupta, twenty such boards have been installed in front of prominent enclosures to help visitors navigate the sprawling campus.
"These braille boards will significantly aid visually challenged visitors in locating enclosures and strategic positions throughout the zoo," said Sengupta.
The unveiling coincided with 'Chimpanzee Day,' during which interactive gaming sessions were held. Zoo keepers shared their experiences and a video featuring Alipore Zoo's chimpanzees was shown. All participants received saplings from the forest department as a keepsake.
The event was graced by the presence of Minister of State for Forest (Independent Charge) Birbaha Hansda, along with senior forest officials.
