Oscar-winner Brendan Fraser is set to take on the role of Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower in the forthcoming film 'Pressure', Deadline reports. Fraser will act alongside BAFTA winner Andrew Scott in the movie focusing on the critical lead-up to the Normandy landings.

The Normandy landings, executed on June 6, 1944, under Operation Overlord, were pivotal military operations during World War II. Dubbed Operation Neptune and known commonly as D-Day, the operations involved significant airborne and seaborne efforts. Scott, known for his roles in 'All of Us Strangers' and 'Ripley', will portray James Stagg, the British Chief Meteorological Officer. Stagg was instrumental in advising Eisenhower about weather conditions that could impact the invasion's outcome, a decision crucial for the Allies' success.

General Eisenhower, affectionately called 'Ike', earned accolades for his wartime leadership, eventually becoming the 34th President of the United States from 1953 to 1961. Directed by Anthony Maras of 'Hotel Mumbai' fame, 'Pressure' will commence filming in the UK this September.

According to the film's synopsis, the storyline unfolds in the 72 hours before D-Day, with everything ready except the weather forecast. James Stagg finds himself in a tense conflict with the Allied leadership, tasked with delivering a forecast that could make or break the largest seaborne invasion in history. Should his prediction fail, it could lead to devastating consequences. Supported only by his aide, Captain Kay Summersby, Stagg's advisory role becomes even more pressing with a looming deadline, holding the fate of the war and millions of lives in the balance, as reported by Deadline.
