Selena Gomez Shuts Down Cosmetic Surgery Rumors, Opens Up About Lupus Struggles

Selena Gomez, addressing rumors about cosmetic surgery, has openly discussed her health issues related to lupus. Responding to a now-deleted TikTok video, Gomez clarified that her changing looks are due to her lupus medication, not plastic surgery. She emphasized embracing her natural self amidst public scrutiny.

Selena Gomez, frequently scrutinized for her changing appearance and weight fluctuations, has unequivocally shut down rumors suggesting cosmetic surgeries. The 32-year-old singer addressed these speculations in response to a TikToker's video on her changing looks.

In the now-deleted video, plastic surgery office assistant Marissa Barrionuevo was asked to analyze Gomez's appearance. Barrionuevo declined, noting Gomez's lupus health struggles, which can alter a person's looks, should not be mistaken for cosmetic work.

Gomez responded to the video, stating, "Honestly, I hate this. I was on stripes because of a flare-up. I have Botox. That's it. Leave me alone." Barrionuevo apologized, emphasizing Gomez owed no explanations for her appearance changes.

Gomez, diagnosed with lupus in 2014 and having undergone a kidney transplant in 2017, has consistently promoted body positivity despite enduring years of public criticism. In January 2023, Gomez addressed shaky hands in a TikTok skincare video, attributing it to her lupus medication.

She reaffirmed her stance on Instagram, saying, "I'm not perfect but I am proud of who I am. Sometimes I forget it's ok to be me."
