Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday underscored the urgency to transform India's agricultural sector, emphasizing comprehensive efforts to improve farmers' lives.

Speaking from the iconic Red Fort on the nation's 78th Independence Day, Modi voiced concerns over soil health deterioration due to excessive chemical fertiliser use. He announced increased budget allocations and programmes to promote natural farming.

Expressing optimism, Modi stated that India has the potential to become the world's organic food basket. He highlighted government initiatives in supporting farmers, including the provision of easy loans for modern equipment like drones.
