Qatar authorities on Wednesday returned two 'saroops' of Guru Granth Sahib to the Indian Embassy in Doha. The copies had been seized from an Indian national involved in running an unapproved religious establishment, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

A 'saroop' is a physical copy of the sacred text highly revered by the Sikh community globally, explained MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

The MEA took the matter up with Qatar and prioritized its resolution. They extended gratitude to the Qatari government for their cooperation and urged Indian citizens abroad to comply with local laws.
