The Supreme Court of India has taken a decisive step by forming an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve into allegations of animal fat being used in the production of Tirupati laddus. This decision aims to address concerns and maintain the religious sanctity associated with the prasadam, which holds immense significance for millions of devotees.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and senior YSRCP leader R K Roja welcomed the court's order. Both leaders emphasized the importance of refraining from politicizing the sensitive issue, urging the public to respect the sentiments tied to the offering at the Sri Venkateswara temple.
The SIT, including officials from the CBI, Andhra Pradesh Police, and FSSAI, will conduct a thorough investigation. The step comes after TDP spokesperson Pattabhiram Kommareddy accused the previous government of compromising on the laddus' purity. Concerns over such allegations have stirred significant disquiet among Hindus worldwide.
