On International Mother Language Day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin emphasized the antiquity and independent stature of the Tamil language, highlighting it as a classical language with its own power. He urged for the global recognition of Tamil's unique heritage.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami also reflected on linguistic diversity, advocating respect for Tamil and all languages. He warned against attempts to impose other languages upon the Tamil-speaking population.

Echoing these sentiments, BJP state chief K Annamalai stressed fundamental education in one's native language, aligning with the Centre’s National Education Policy. Annamalai encouraged learning multiple languages, rooted in the mother tongue, to elevate Tamil's global standing.
