The Indian Home and Personal Care (HPC) sector, with current valuations of Rs 65,000 crore for home care and Rs 2,00,000 crore for personal care, is aiming for an eco-friendly transformation. This ambitious shift will require an initial investment of approximately Rs 1 lakh crore, according to industry estimates.
At a pivotal juncture, the sector's growth is tied to strategic funding in renewable resources and sustainable manufacturing. The transformation necessitates constructing ethylene cracker complexes and investing in greener approaches like non-edible oils. The Indian Home and Personal Care Industry Association (IHPCIA) emphasized this at a recent conference where Union Minister Nitin Gadkari advocated for green technologies.
Leaders like Nadir Godrej of Godrej Group are committed to sustainable practices, with innovative products like Godrej Magic Liquid aiming to reduce plastic waste. Sanjay Trivedi, IHPCIA Founder, calls for radical changes in renewables, manufacturing, and supply chains, as echoed in plans to produce a comprehensive white paper based on ongoing discussions.
