Comedian Kunal Kamra is in the spotlight after he criticized Bollywood giant T-Series for allegedly flagging his stand-up special, 'Naya Bharat', on YouTube over copyright violations. The special includes a parody of 'Hawa Hawai', intended as a satire on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's policies.
T-Series, which owns the rights to songs from 'Mr India', hasn't commented yet. Kamra's video has been blocked, stifling its revenue potential. The comedian, however, asserts that parody is protected under fair use and challenges other creators to oppose such practices.
Amidst growing tensions, the sketch continues to gain traction, boasting over 6.7 million views. Kamra's performance touched on political developments in Maharashtra, leading to vandalism by Shiv Sena members at the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, where the show was staged.
